As you can see to your left, FaceBook.com gives you a great deal of tools to promote your profile. Even though nothing is made public, people can click on your "Profile Badge", sign up for an account, and be directed to your profile immediately.
Take Your Time To Learn About Your Profile:
There is a great deal of options you can manipulate within FaceBook. Actually, there are so many options it would take me a great deal of time just to list them here. I will leave it up to you to explore all of the goodies on your own time but for now, let's go through some of the tools you can use to promote your blog.
Creating A Blog Group Within FaceBook.com:
Once logged in, click on "My Groups"
(left hand menu). From there find the button that says "Create Group"
. Now you can begin creating your group. Make sure to enter as much information as possible but, don't worry if you can't fill in everything right now, you can always edit your groups profile later.
After you've completed creating your group profile
, you will then be taken to a page where you can upload pictures for your group. I would suggest uploading pictures from your blog, about your blog, company logo, and even pictures of yourself. Now that you have a group created, you should start by adding some new messages to the message boards, adding related news topics, and even posting a welcome message on your "Wall". These steps will help to create value for your group.
Before You Start Promoting Your Group...
There are still a couple of things you'll want to setup before promoting your profile, or your group. There is another section within FaceBook that allows you to create notes (blog posts). Within this "My Notes Section"
, you have the ability to parse your xml/rss/atom feed right into your profile. This gives anyone who views your profile the ability to read your feed, and be directed to your blog, or website.

How To Parse Your XML / RSS / Atom Feed Within FaceBook.com?
Start by clicking on "My Notes"
(left hand menu). From there, you'll want to look for a link that says "Notes Settings: Edit import settings »"
. This will take you to a page where you can enter the website address to your XML/RSS/Atom feed. Once you click on "Generate Feed" your done. If your feed meets rss validation standards, there is no need to do anything else, FaceBook has already added your most recent blog posting to your profile.
So Now You've Already:
- Created your profile
- Created your group
- Parsed your rss feed
You're finally ready to start promoting your profile. This step, like all marketing ventures will take some time and effort. Here are some steps to take while trying to promote your profile:
- Search for old friends within FaceBook.com
- Search through your "high school" networks.
(9/10 times you WILL connect with old friends.)
- Search through your "city" networks.
(You may find some interesting people.)
- Browse through other groups and join up to get people to notice you.
(There are 1000's of other groups, connect with them to promote yourself.)
- Write about your group within your blog.
(Just like I'm doing right now)
- Invite your current friends to join FaceBook.
(Most people love to socialize, especially when you can all do it from home.)
- Make new friends while chatting in FaceBook
(If you post a lot, you will make new friends, and attract new readers.)
- Write tutorials online on how to use FaceBook.com
- Invite other bloggers to join your blog network
- Bloggers are always looking for ways to "get the word out", what better than a "group effort".
In Conclusion:
As you can see, there are many different tactics you can use to promote your FaceBook profile. By doing so, you will amass a greater following for your blog, newsletter, or website. Social networking is a vital part of marketing your products, or services online.
This is just a taste of the amount of different ways to create a great profile within FaceBook.com. Even though everything is not made public, don't miss out on this great opportunity to connect with people. People promoting people = success online.
