Press Release Marketing - Use RSS Feeds!

By: Martin Lemieux

Press Release DirectoryPress release marketing online can take a great amount of effort for many companies to accomplish mass viral marketing efforts. The greatest tool to multiply those efforts is through RSS news syndication...

For those of you know don't know yet, RSS (Real Simple Syndication) allows webmasters and syndication directories to view, post, and manipulate press release headlines, descriptions, and sources at will. This 'file' shows the last 10, 20, or even 50+ news headlines generated by your company. With this 'file' as I call it, you can then mass-produce your news to areas online you may have never dreamed of before!

How Do I Create an RSS Feed?

Unless you have technical skills in web coding, I suggest you utilize the services of an outside source that allows you to post, group and market your press releases.

For example: Many blog sites, article directories, and press release directories create a unique feed for each of their members. Simply find a directory or service you like and add around 10 press releases to start. From there, you can now copy & paste the url (website address) of your companies feed and promote it online.

Can I View a Sample RSS Feed?

There are many different formats you can have like; simple xml, rss, or atom. If you have programming skills and you want to learn how to create your own, go here:

Are There Programs I can Use?

Absolutely! They are call "rss feed generators". You can easily find a free generator by searching within any search engine out there. Most of them don't require any programming language, they are pretty much plug-and-play software’s.

Where Do I Promote My News Feed?

Ah! Here's the ultimate question. Most press release directories already promote their category specific rss feeds, but only few of them ever promote individual company news. It is up to you to promote your own rss feed to syndication directories online. To date compared to business directories, there are only a handful of rss syndication directories that survive the test of time. Simply go to Google, Yahoo, or your favourite search engine and search for "RSS Feed Directory", or "Submit RSS Feed". There you will find an abundance of places to promote your feed to. Make sure to track where you submit to so that you don't submit the same feed twice. Once in a while go back to your searching efforts and find new ones you previously missed.
